Yes. Counsellors are professionals who are required to protect your privacy, just like a doctor. What you share stays between you and your counsellor.

Browse the counsellor bios and reach out directly to the one that feels like a fit. They will get back to you within two business days  to set up your first session.

  • Each counsellor offers an initial free 30-minute consultation to help you decide if they are the right fit for you.
  • The counsellor bios detail what they offer for session formats (in-person, phone, and/or virtual), availability, location, and areas of specialty to help guide your choice. These options vary by counsellor.

Many sessions take place online or by phone. In-person sessions may be available depending on the counsellor and location.

It’s important to feel comfortable. If you’d prefer a different counsellor, you can switch. Please note however that program funding is currently limited to the counsellors listed within the program.

The program covers up to four sessions per year. If you’d like to continue, you can arrange ongoing support directly with your counsellor at their regular rates.

No, this is not a crisis service. Appointments must be booked in advance and there may be a wait, just like other appointments such as the dentist or mechanic.

  • For immediate support, call the National Farmer Wellness Network Crisis Line at 1-866-FARMS01 (1-866-327-6701) or call/text 9-8-8 anytime, day or night. Reach a listening ear and free, confidential, ag-informed counselling services when you need it most.
  • For emergencies, call 911, visit your local emergency room, or use one of the crisis services listed on our Crisis Supports page.

It’s normal to feel nervous at first. Counselling is a safe space to talk openly with someone who listens without judgment. It’s an important step towards improving your mental health and shows that you are willing to make choices to improve your situation. Your counsellor is there to support you, explore what you are experiencing, and help you find strategies to improve your well-being.

Each counsellor offers an initial free 30-minute consultation to help you decide if they are the right fit for you. Ongoing sessions are focused on your goals and at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Your mental health matters. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

Together, we can break the stigma and strengthen support for those who feed New Brunswick.
