About the New Brunswick Farmer Wellness Program

Farming is rewarding, but it also comes with stress and challenges that can feel overwhelming. The New Brunswick Farmer Wellness Program was created specifically for farmers, their families, and farm employees. You don’t need to carry everything on your own — support is here when you need it.

This program offers short-term counselling at no cost to you. Sessions are delivered by professional counsellors who are familiar with agricultural life. All conversations are private and confidential.

Purpose

To provide confidential, no-cost access to counsellors who understand the realities of farming.

Goals
  • Support Mental Health – The Farmer Wellness program is here to strengthen farmers’ well-being, help develop coping skills, and build resilience.
  • Make Help More Accessible – We want to make it easier for farmers to connect with qualified mental health professionals whenever they need.
  • Reduce Stigma – Let’s encourage open conversations and and make seeking help a normal, comfortable thing.

Why It Matters

Research shows that farmers are at higher risk of mental health struggles such as chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, and many hesitate to reach out for help because of stigma.

Stigma is the fear of being judged, misunderstood, or seen as weak for seeking support. Increased awareness is important because areas and demographic groups that display less stigma and more open attitudes toward help-seeking experience lower suicide rates.

You are not alone — and talking about it is a strong first step to feeling better.
